Specifications for Residential Pickup in Lauderdale County:
- Garbage must be in county provided cart
- Place cart curbside or on the county right of way by the night before your collection day or by 5:30am the day of your collection.
- Residents must maintain the cleanliness of their cart. It is recommended that you bag all waste to help maintain cleanliness. Please do not overload these carts or put hot ashes, liquids, or other materials that could damage it. If it is damaged beyond repair, the resident will be held responsible and must pay the cost of replacement. Carts are the property of the county and will stay with the home in the event that the resident moves.
Carts are available in only 95-gallon size. You are allowed to have up to 3 ninety-five gallon carts per residence. Extra carts are available at a additional cost per month, and residents who are interested should contact the Solid Waste Department at 256-760-5878.
This department observes six (6) major holidays. New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. If your service falls on one of these holidays, your service will resume the following day. The remaining days will run one day late with Friday's routes collected on Saturday.
Please note the county does not pick up liquids, paints, or other hazardous type materials. Also, special precautions need to be taken for the disposal of medical wastes. Please contact the Solid Waste office for proper disposal of these types of materials.
